In April 2023 Museo Spazio Pubblico hosted Johannes Riegler from Vienna as Visiting Researcher for a short residency during his sabbatical year. Johannes helped us to develop some strategic thinking in regard of our future engagement in European programmes and initiatives.

Johannes Riegler is a member of the Management Board of Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT). In DUT, he focuses on engaging urban actors to develop and deliver a transnational research and innovation programme, which supports radical transformations towards regenerative and livable urban futures. This is done by designing and running multi-actor processes aiming at bringing research communities, public urban administrations, urban change makers and anyone enthusiastic about how urban areas will look like if we are to tackle the bunch challenges ahead, together to exchange knowledge(s) and co-create. Johannes also did extensive conceptual work on experimental urban governance models such as urban living labs. Currently, within DUT, he is working a novel grant scheme to support and connect local neighborhood initiatives and change makers with European / global ambitions and debates on urban transformation. Johannes is an urbanist (MA) and a geographer (BSc) and earned his studies in Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen, Madrid, Budapest and Klagenfurt.
